Roleplay

Thistle bounded down the slide, squealing as she went down. This was her favorite park, and she loved to play in it. Today she was wearing a frilly white eyelet patterned sundress with black Mary Jane shoes. Her hair was down around her shoulders, the copper red springy curls bouncing as she ran. She threw her stuffed bunny up the slide so it slid down again. Suddenly her ears perked up and she heard something. Snatching her bunny from the slide, she scampered into the built in plastic tunnel. She clutched her bunny tightly, listening in on the conversation.
"Yes, there were a whole bloody lot of them at the house. Around five perhaps. Yes, I almost had my head ripped off. They are getting out of control lately; sooner or later we're gonna have to step in. Yes, this happened quite a wile ago as well. Okay...." the girl hung up and there was a splash. "I hate my job sometimes."
Thistle perked her head; she knew this girl was talking about vampires...newborns. But why? All thoughts were pulled from her head when her bunny was yanked out of her hand. She squealed in fury at the crow, who was squawking at her, going skyward with her stuffed animal that Callum had mended so log ago. "No!" Thistle yelled, sprinting after the crow. She jumped up, just catching the crow as if flew off. "Let go!" Thistle yelled in her child's soprano.
The beedy-eyed crow squawked ferociously before letting go of the stuffed animal. Thistle ran, but before she knew it there was a sharp peck at her head. The small girl squeaked, before cowering on the ground, her bunny under her. The crow kept dive-bombing her over and over as if to say 'Give me my food!'
Thistle kept squealing. "Gettoff, gettoff, gettoff, gettoff, gettoff!!"

Stephen was unaware what was happening during all this. All he heard was his name being called, and vaguely being hauled somewhere. He was deep under in a murky state of mind as he was transported and carried into the hospital. His blue eyes were closed. He wanted to open them, he did. They stayed glued shut. He had heard the conversation between the doctor and Sol. The nurse came in and soon it shut with a loud click. Of course it was quiet to the nurse, but to vampires, it was enough to jolt them...and jar them from their sleep. Stephen jolted awake, jerking up, gasping. He looked at Sol. Bad idea. He gave a yelp of surprise at her shirtless and whipped around, covering his eyes. "I didn't see anything, I didn't see anything!" he repeated, shutting his eyes. Good God. Now what was that? Stephen turned a tinted shade of pink, much deeper than before the newborn attack. It was true he didn't see much. Only her back, and to his dismay, millions of small cuts and scars. Of course no one but the keen eyes of a vampire would be able to pick the scars up.
Stephen narrowed his eyes as he was still turned around. That's right. It wasn't a rumor or anything, but the vampires of the various covens knew a few things about each other, as hard as they tried to keep it a secret. Stephen remembered something that Kolian had mentioned in passing--Sol's parents had beat her as a child. Stephen closed his eyes, wincing. What kind of sick person would do that? He sighed, his face still flushed pink. "Um...put a shirt on..." Stephen said loud enough for her to hear. His voice was flustered a bit, though he was sure he didn't see anything, just her back, which was a bit of a shock for him, since although he seemed a bit of a ladies man, all he'd seen was a girl in a bikini, and that wasn't saying much.

Rune pulled out his cell as he walked next to Kolian in the rain, back to the house. He speed dialed Wren's number and it was a while before she picked up. It took five rings for her to stop ignoring her cell. "Yes, you reached the Lasseur residence." her sarcastic voice came on the line. "We're giving out free pizzas today." Rune scoffed. "Not now, Wren. Lionel's gone. He's been taken by newborns." he said, getting straight to the point. There was silence and he cringed, pulling the phone away from his ear when Wren shouted. "Lionel, kidnapped?!" she roared. "That's bullshit! That's complete bullshit!" "Well, face reality." Rune snapped back. "He's gone." Although he was putting on a brave front, he could feel himself slipping away slowly. Wren was silent for a moment before she suddenly said. "Put the girlfriend on the line. There's a chance that her boyfriend might still be alive."

Nerine watched as her phone sank into the pond. She had plenty more at home; that phone was a cheap anyway. Snorting, she was about to get up when a child's squeal stopped her. Probably some playtime. It didn't hurt to go and check on the kids isn't it? When the same voice began yelling with anger, she sighed and made her way towards the playground. What now? Were they under attack again? She shoved her hands into the pockets of her self-made skirt and upon reaching the playground, her blue eyes widened. There, a small girl being attacked by a crow. Nerine felt herself bursting with outrage. The crow sure had a lot of nerve. "Oi!" she yelled, racing over and thwacking the crow away. "Get your filthy talons off her!" She even picked up a stone and waved it towards the bird. "I'll throw this at you if I have to." she threatened. With an angry squawk, she watched as the crow flew away, disappearing over the trees. "Stupid." she muttered, dropping the stone and glanced down to the small girl. She held out a hand to her and asked "Are you alright?"

Thistle peeked up from her arms, glancing up. "Is it gone?" she asked, flinching. She flicked her honey brown eyes around before finally resting her gaze on the kind face above her. The pretty girl had blonde hair and blue eyes. Thistle hesitated before putting her small hand into the girl's slender one. She grabbed onto the girl's hand like a lifesaver and stood up, clutching her stuffed bunny in her arm for dear life. Thistle nodded, her face still paler than usual. She hated crows. She had thought she was old enough one day (mentally, obviously) to watch The Birds by Hitchcock. She'd ended up cowering under her blankets. Never again.
Thistle huffed, brushing herself off, or at least attempting to with her hand that wasn't holding-or rather squeezing- Nerine's hand. She was covered in mud, and kept dropping her bunny on accident, making the bunny get coated with mud, though Thistle barely noticed, her mind spinning. She looked up at the girl with her child's trusting eyes and smiled. "Thank you." she said in her soprano voice, before going back to attempting to clean herself off. All the while, she kept her right hand firmly clutching Nerine's

((Ah, Riri, hold up. If Nerine takes Thistle back to Merrill, then she'll know that Thistle's a vampy immediately. O_O))

Sol blushed a bright red color when Stephen jolted awake. Sol was quick to cover herself but the nurse was still bandaging her up. "Just look away." The nurse said shortly. Sol's cheeks were hot, and she was glad that stephen had not seen anything. The nurse finished bandaging Sol and it resulted in her having what looked like a tube top that showed her midsection. "I'll go get you a new shirt since this one is torn." the nurse said before leaving the room. Sol stared at the wall, then glanced over her shoulder to see if Stephen was looking at her. Good, he wasn't.
Suddenly, Sol felt self conscious. She knew Stephen could turn around and see her body, which was marred by many small scars. She wasn't perfect like the girls on tv, or the girls in those silly vampire movies. Her cheeks became even hotter at the thought. "I'm... covered... kind of." she muttered under her breath, a late response to him asking her to put a shirt on.
She kept her back to him. "Are you okay? does your head hurt?" she asked. She slowly turned around a bit, and not wanting for him to see she was making sure his head was turned away before she turned. He could've looked at her if he wanted to, and not have seen a thing other than a tube top with a bandage design that didn't hide her midsection.

Kolian was silent as she listened to Rune. At wren's shriek she cringed. She glanced at the phone when her vampire ears heard Wren's request. Talk? Talk to Wren? about what? what was she going to do? Kolian couldn't imagine the girl ever comforting someone if her life depended on it. And on top of that, she couldn't imagine Wren caring enough about the girlfriend to even want to talk to her.
Kolian imagined that Wren was worried about LIonel, but didn't give a crap about how Kolian was feeling. That was her assumption, and her thought. She didn't know if it was true or not, but that was just how she thought of Wren.

Stephen was still flushed pink, but turned back around when she said she was covered. Well, kind of. That was enough 'covered' for Stephen to turn around and not be embarassed. He smiled at her. "I'm alright. My head aches like no other, but other than that, I'm rearing to go." he said, laughing, though laughing made him hurt, so he winced before stopping.
What a date that had been. Nice, and ruined by an invasion of newborns. Stephen glanced back at Sol, an apologetic tone to his voice. "I'm sorry that was such a disaster." he said. "I didn't expect that."

Sol blushed when he turned around, because she felt uncomfortable, but she got used to it once she realized he was looking at her face only. She scooted closer to him, and quickly hugged him, but kept her arms around his torso. "You worried me." she stated. "I was so worried something had happened. Stop laughing, I can tell it hurts you." she said. her voice was super serious and yet small like a child's.
She hugged him tighter. "It's okay... it wasn't really a date, was it?" she looked up at him. "I don't mind it being cut off like that... as long as you're okay." She put a hand through his hair and touched his head delicately. he was alright, just as the doctor had said.

Stephen smiled. She sounded such like a small child. He hugged her warmly back, chuckling, even though she'd just told him not to. He kissed the top of her forehead. Not as a boyfriend, but as a friend, glad that she was okay. It was like one he usually gave to Kolian, telling her he was happy to see her. He smiled. "It was only a date if you wanted it to be." he said seriously. "I don't really know where this friendship is going, but I'm comfortable either way." he smiled, looking in her eyes. Stephen smiled again as she ran her hand through his hair. It felt good ((XDD)) "No pressure." he said, chuckling lightly again.

Sol shot him a small glare that told him to shut up and stop chuckling because she was worried about him. She continued to stroke his hair because she found that he seemed to like it. Her eyes flickered over to his and met with his. What if he were to love her? She wondered about that. "Did /you/ want it to be a date?" she asked softly. She didn't want to get into a relationship... but she just wondered.

Stephen sighed. He didn't want to say yes. But he kind of did want it to seem like a date. His definition of date was a boy and a girl just going out to know each other better- he didn't know what she defined as date.
After a while, Stephen smiled down at her. "I would /like/ to think of it as a date. But a date to me is two friends who like each other a bit more than just friends, who go out to see if anything sparks between them. If so, then that's great. If not, then that's alright and I'm ready to be just friends." he said, pondering if he would say the next thing or not. He decided to trust her--he hadn't really told anyone before.
"When I met Kolian, I recognized her for the endearing and loving person she is. We went on walks, hung out together, and I loved every single bit of it. At first I had a crush, and I waited to see if it was something more than that--waiting to see if there was a spark between us." he paused, collecting his thoughts.
"There was. But not the spark I was expecting. I realized it was a spark of unconditional love for Kolian. I would love her forever and ever, accepting her faults, being her psychiatrist, and laughing with her. But for me, that was it. I wasn't /in/ love with her. I'm still not in love with her, and I don't think I ever will be..." Stephen smiled, his voice going soft.
"But I love her with all my heart." he paused. "I don't know why I told you that. I guess to just say, I'm ready to be something more if you want to be, Sol, because I feel something between us. But you just got out of a relationship, and I know you're wounded inside and out. Take time to heal. It's the only way to tell. And let's face it--wether we like it or not, we've got forever to decide." he laughed again before giving a grunt of pain. "Ow..."

Bailey smiled but frowned when Jessica actually left the pretty girl she was sitting beside. Poor girl. That wasn't nice. He blinked as the frenchfry hit his forehead, and he caught it and laid it along with the rest of his trash. "Food." he said simply. Jessica was one of his friends that he didn't mind talking to. She was pretty sweet, if you were on her good side, and he'd known her for a while now and was comfortable talking to her.
"I left them at the park. We were playing football and they hit some girl on the head." he said, shaking his own head to and fro. "I apologized for them, then they stayed there yelling at each other for hitting her on the head." Bailey nodded, then glanced at the girl Jessica had left. "Who were you sitting with?" he asked, lowering his voice so that the girl didn't hear him. "she's pretty." he blinked, glancing the girl's way then looking back at jessica.

"Those boys. They never pay attention to anything but that football, do they?" Jessica said. She chuckled quietly to herself.
"Holly? Oh, she's nobody. Just someone I used to hang around when I first moved here," Jessica replied. She glanced back at Holly, who was paying the waitress and thanking her. Jessica rolled her eyes and looked back at Bailey.
"She isn't that special. Actually, she's pretty dull. If it wasn't for me she would have no friends," she stated. Jessica had a way of making it sound like Holly was some kind of charity case. Which wasn't the case at all. It was actually more of the other way around, but without Holly even wanting her to be her friend in the first place. Holly never actually considered Jessica a friend. More like a nuisance.

Nerine nodded. "It is." She didn't say anything else as the small girl took her hand and pulled herself up. Nerine began analyzing the girl; from her copper red curls to her now muddy once white dress, wondering what she was up with now. She busied herself by looking around, looking out for anymore signs of crows coming to attack the small girl again. Upon finding nothing out of the ordinary, she brushed her hair out of her eyes and raised an eyebrow when the child's voice rang in her ears, thanking her. Nerine nodded and shrugged. "Oh, it's nothing." She snorted when Thistle tried to clean herself off with her muddy hands. "You won't get very far doing that. Here." Using her free hand, she pulled out a handkerchief from her pocket and offered it to Thistle. "You need a shower. Do you want to go home? I'm Nerine, by the way."

Rune raised an eyebrow when Wren requested that she wanted to talk to Kolian. He turned away from Kolian and hissed into the phone. "I don't think she wants to." His fingers clutched the phone even tighter. "You're the last person that she wants to talk with now." Wren's voice immediately became sharp and snappy. "Look here, brat. I don't have time for this. If you want to save your role model and if she wants to save her lion on time, then. give. her. the. damn. phone." It was obvious that she was already becoming ticked. "This has nothing to do with ticking her off. Not now. Now for God's sake, give her the phone." Rune, who was now looking incredulous, closed his eyes and offered the phone towards Kolian.

sol let out a short huff when he laughed. "Stop that...." she hugged him tightly and sighed, leaning against his chest. No, she wasn't ready for another relationship so soon. She had just been broken up with that morning. She let a few moments of silence pass before she finally decided to answer. "I don't want to get into another relationship so fast. I've already had two boyfriends from Rhyolite and neither stuck around long." Sol let her eyes close as she clung to Stephen.
"I don't want another heartbreak, and it still does hurt alot..." she said quietly. Slowly, she loosened her grip on him and looked up into his blue eyes. He wanted to be more. She could tell, and he had said it. She looked away, ashamed that she had to tell him something like this. "If I hadn't had ever dated James, then maybe we could've..." she shrugged, but it was half hearted.
Just then, the nurse entered and handed Sol a white tshirt. "Here you are." she said, then glanced at the two critically before leaving. Sol pulled away from Stephen and slipped on the white tshirt. Feeling more comfortable, she hugged Stephen again.

Kolian had been listening and now she was staring at the phone blankly. It must've been a waterproof phone, otherwise it would've short circuited in the rain. She hesitated for a long time before taking the phone and holding it to her ear.
"Hello?" her voice was distant. She would've much rather Wren not want to talk to her, but Wren said something about finding Lionel, and that was enough to make Kolian speak.

Bailey tilted his head back to look at Holly. "She's pretty." he muttered quietly under his breath. It was rare that Bailey ever said aloud what he thought of a girl. He usually kept it all - good and bad - to himself. He stared at her for a few more minutes before he looked over at Jessica. "Introduce us." he said, a determined look on his face. The look vanished and he averted his eyes, but only for a moment before he looked back at Jessica. "Please?"
He gave her that sweet Bailey - look that was irresistible to any girl in school. If he wanted something done, one look with those big eyes and sweet smile and the girl would go weak at the knees. "does she go to our school? I've never seen her before..." he said distractedly. He glanced back over at Holly before his sweet eyes returned to Jessica.

"Ugh, seriously? I just sat down!" Jessica complained. Then Bailey gave her that look. It was true, one glance at his pleading look and anybody would do anything for him. That included Jessica. She gave a deep sigh. "Of course she goes to our school! You don't notice anybody outside of your friends, do you? She's been going to our school longer than I have."
Jessica stood up, snatching up her purse with her arm. "Well, come on. Get up and I'll introduce you," she said.

Thistle beamed, her eyes shining. "Thank you." she trilled as Nerine handed her the handkerchief. She patted at her face with it until all the dirt was gone. Thistle sighed before attempting to fix her dress. No such luck. She was going to have to get Callum to wash it. Thistle glanced back up at Nerine, shaking her head. "No, I dun wanna go home." she said, her copper curls bouncing along with her head shake. "My name is Thistle!" she said excitedly, smiling. "And this is my bunny." she squeezed the stuffed bunny around torso. She held it up to Nerine. "Lola!" she said. Lola was dressed in a white tulle ballerina outfit with yellow bows tied around her ears. "She's my best friend-oh...." Thistle spotted a rip in the stuffed animals side and touched it. Some stuffing fell down onto the grass. Thistle's eyes grew huge as she picked up the stuffing. "Oh no!" she cried, looking up at Nerine, appearing to be on the verge of tears.

Stephen nodded understandingly and rested his cheek on her head as she lay next to him, hugging him. He smiled. "Ot course." he said. "Take all the time you want."

The moment Kolian's voice came into line, Wren immediately went into action; speaking briskly and sharply so that Kolian wouldn't miss a word. "I know that you don't like me and all that, but let's leave it for later, shall we?" Already Rune could see Wren smirking at the end of the line. "Anyways." Wren continued. "I'm not giving guarantees that Lionel is still alive, but there is a small chance that he isn't. The newborns are probably pissed with him killing one of their buddies and they might've just snapped every single one of his bones and left him there to rot. He'll be out for weeks and memory loss might be involved. Most Newborns are too stupid to realize that the only way to kill a vamp is by barbequing them. I know this because you have Rune there to explain." Rune grimaced when his name was mentioned and he scowled as Wren paused for a moment before going on. "Try searching the forest early morning tomorrow...and bring Rune." Again his name was mentioned. Rune rolled his eyes in disapproval. Wren hung up without saying goodbye and another word. Typical her.

Nerine raised an eyebrow when Thistle immediately said that she didn't want to go home. She shrugged. "Lola eh?" she smiled with amusement at the stuffed bunny. She frowned when stuffing fell out of the bunny and when Thistle picked it up, she looked as though she was going to cry any moment. She took the bunny from the girl's hands and inspected the ripping. It was fairly large, and could be easily fixed. "This can be fixed." she remarked kindly, passing the rabbit back to Thistle. "If you like, we can go back to my place and fix it." The moment that she said that, she instantly wished she hadn't. What was Thistle going to say when she saw that Nerine lived in the town's orphanage? But it was too late to take back her words now.
