"Because they haven't given me a single reason to," Regan replied sharply. Then realizing the hostility in her voice she gave Leo an apologetic glance, her anger hadn't been directed at him. "The way I look at it is, we're the predators and they know it. They may have us going through the motions of house arrest now, but sooner or later one side is going to snap. And I won't put it past them to try to take us out while were complying with them," she explain further leaving out a silent they've done it before. How was this nation formed after all?
Going into the kitchen she opened the refrigerator and took out the packets placing them all on the table starting to rifle through them.

James turned around at the soft tap on his shoulder. He half expected it to be Sol, and he turned around, a glimmer of hope in his eyes. When he saw it was Aimee, the light left his eyes, and his expression turned neutral. He took out the ear buds and put the music on pause. He put his sword in it's case and turned back to Aimee, crossing his arms and leaning against the wall.
James smiled, but the smile was a far cry from reaching his eyes. "Aimee," he said. "Hi." He was grateful that Aimee was the one person who didn't yell at him on the vacation. He knew they all meant well, but Aimee was the only one to James who came across as concerned, and not angry.

((My tutor's running extremely late and should be here any minute, so I'm probably gonna poof anytime soon now, then I'll get on my phone after =D ))

Aimee looked him over and sighed, "Are you okay? I can tell something's wrong... you talked to Sol, didn't you..?" she looked at him, frowning a little. "I hate seeing you so sad, it's really hurting me." she said softly. "It makes me feel like I've done something awfully wrong." she said quietly.
Aimee paused for a long moment before she hugged him. "If you did talk to her, and if I guessed right what happened then I know how you must feel James." she said, trembling a little, hugging him tightly. "I'm so sorry, so, so sorry." she said, looking up at him with the saddest expression she had ever worn in front of someone.

"Yeah, I talked to her." James said vaguely, picking up his sword and equipment. He listened to her. She was so sympathetic, it really meant a lot to him. "No, you've done nothing wrong, Aimee. No one has done anything wrong. It was just a series of unfortunate events. He listened to her when she said she was sorry. When she hugged him, he looked surprised, as if he didn't expect it, but he patted her on the back. "So am I, Ace." he said quietly. "So am i."

Aimee frowned deeply and looked up at him. "can we talk a little?" she asked quietly, "my coach is gone and... I don't want to leave you like this." she said softly. "let's sit down over there and talk some." she said, looking up at him hopefully. 
Aimee's blue eyes were obviously sad and it was apparent she cared for James as well as understood how he felt. She wAnted to talk with him and comfort him like a good sister would do. She felt like he was her brother and she should be there for him. 
Aimee motioned over to the bleachers where they could sit. It would be nice to talk to James, and besides, he was friends with Quill, James would let her know if he knew Quill felt anything right? Then again... She already knew quill didn't like her. She knew that he had rejected her kiss and at every sign of her possibly liking him he had gotten angry with her. These thoughts hurt her deeply and she still thought about all that had happened. Aimee held back her overflowing sadness and pulled on James's arm once more like a small child would. 

James looked back down at Aimee. She looked like a sad little puppy. James sighed, accepting that he wasn't going to get home soon like he planned. James nodded, picking up his stuff. "Sure, we can talk." he said, letting her pull him toward the bleachers. James sat down, throwing his bag below the bench, and leaning back against the next bleacher up, crossing his arms and looking upwards. "What's bugging you?" he asked. Clearly something was wrong with Aimee, and James had a good idea of what it was, but he waited, and let her tell the story.

Aimee blinked a little. She was a bit surprised he knew that something was wrong with her too. She sat down and looked out at the gym as other gymnasts practiced or to the far side where people like James worked out. She closed her eyes. "when you were just friends with Sol, you had no problem telling her how you felt?" Aimee asked softly. "you always seemed so happy to go see her or to pick up got phone to reply to a text..." Aimee sighed softly. 
"then you got in a relationship with her." she said softly. "it was so fast we were so surprised, and I was shocked that you told her how you felt so fast..." Aimee squirmed a little. "I like Quill alot, if you haven't noticed..." she laughed, but it was quiet. "but lately it feels like I have no chance with him." she said. "it feels like he doesn't want to like me the same way..." Aimee messed with her hands. "everything I do seems to go right through him. I know when some girls like guys they flirt and stuff, or the boys flirt if they like the girls... They're affectionate and they hug and all that but..." Aimee frowned. "I honestly can't remember ever having hugged Quill." she said quietly. She looked at her bare feet. "he's not affectionate with me, and he got mad at me the two times I made it obvious that I liked him." she let out a long sigh again. 
"every time I'm with him my heart feels like it's in my throat and I can't breathe. My face feels warm and I can't stop smiling because I like him being there so much. I Have this fluttery feeling in my stomach too." Aimee paused. "have you ever felt that way? With Sol?" Aimee looked at him before looking back at her feet. "then... When I'm alone at night I think about all my faults. I think about all the reasons why he doesn't like me... And then I feel this weight on my chest. It's.. weird. It's like my chest hurts and my heart is being wrenched in half." Aimee tried describing the feeling but it was nothing like how it really felt. She felt this way whenever she was sad and thinking bad things about herself. Such as, 'my parents hate me' or, 'he could never love me'. 

James listened to Aimee, the troubled look on his face becoming even more and more apparent. When she mentioned Sol, a stab of pain shot through him. He flinched ever so slightly, looking away. He'd told her so fast because she was the first girl James had ever loved. And the first girl whose heart he'd torn into pieces. James clenched his teeth, eyes hard. He listened to Aimee talk about Quill, and sighed. Not in frustration, or anger, but tiredness. "Aimee, you've got a chance with him. Guys have thick skulls." he said. "I promise you, when you girls think you're being obvious, that's like a fly hitting an elephant and we're the elephant." James said, snorting, then sobered. "Yeah," he said quietly. "I've felt that way with Sol." even saying her name made him grimace. "There's no logic to those thoughts, Aimee and you know it." James said, now looking at her, and laughed a bit. "And I know it's not going to help, but Quill is Quill. You have to give him time. He's probably torn between focusing on the project, and confused because he likes you. But I don't know if he likes you," James added quickly, not wanting to give her the wrong idea. "But I think he'll come around, Aimee. You just need to give him time."

Quill walked down the streets of Rhyolite every to often tossing the water bottle he was caring into the air and catching it in his hands. He had to be careful to not hit people as they passed him but this wasn't the city and passing people were far and in-between. Every so often his phone would buzz in his pocket and he'd slip it out and pass on a text message he was on his way to hang out with a few friends from the baseball team, they were talking about getting a big Man Hunt game going with the neighborhood teens. It sounded fun.
Though still although his friends houses lay on the north side of town his feet led a common side path to the right slightly out of the way of his destination. A path he knew quite well even though it rarely led an easy way to his destinations. He'd pass a certain gym regularly hoping to watch a short glimpse at a certain training blonde, rarely going into to disturb her.
So it was with great similarity that he passed the window eagerly and his sight didn't quite suit his fancy. Aimee sitting flushed a little in a way he wasn't used to see like she'd just talked of something embarrassing or of a crush. James... He thought of her reaction to his vampire girlfriend sure it seemed in concern..but what if it was something else. What if now that their relationship was over now James wanted Aimee? A small part of his brain knew he was being unreasonable but the rest wasn't listening as he quickly sent a text he'd be running late.
"Hey taking a break?" he asked coming inside to see them.

Leo rose his eyebrows at Regan's sudden change in tone of voice, but kept his face kind. She was under stress, he could tell, so he shook her unspoken apology away. He thought a bit as they went into the kitchen. Leo looked confusedly at the bags. "What exactly are we looking for, Regan?" he asked, picking up two bags, squinting at them, as if some secret engraving might appear within the thick liquid. Quite a ridiculous notion, but throughly possible with all the technology that was worming its way into the systems. Leo put the bags down and put on a CD. Immediately the stereo picked up the signal and started blaring music. Leo winced and turned it down a notch or two, but smiled. A favorite of his. The Maple Leaf Rag by Scott Joplin started dancing it's way through the house. "I love to play this song on the piano." Leo commented, picking the bags back up and looked quizzically at them. He still didn't have a clue what he was looking for. Discoloration? A bad smell?
